I can hardly believe it!

My exceptional TEAM is about to reach 500 members. Oh....my....goodness. How amazing!

I have the privilege of working with wonderful team members, my fellow directors, and my incredible hostesses and customers. I have met so many authentic and life-long friends over ten years and my business has made an enormous impact on my family. I have learned a great deal, have felt challenged to grow, learn more and always be at my best. It is a great honor to work with my team and support them with trainings, one on one mentorship and regular encouragement. 

My theme song at this point in my career is: "Happy" by Pharrell Williams. My theme song in my last job was "Gotta be cool, gotta be calm, gotta keep it together", as I dealt in employee conflict all day long. I choose my life today vs. other career paths I have learned from and I'm not going back! 

Here are a few things I enjoy about sharing and selling Lemongrass Spa: * I get to encourage women to practice simple self-care rituals. * I have the privilege of helping women on my team reach their own personal goals. * I get to meet some amazing women and men when I step out and enjoy vendor events and spa parties. * I have the JOY of using my business to fundraise and make a difference for some amazing organizations (and individuals) each year. * I get to share my passion of health and help others to learn that it deeply matters what we use on our skin. Old Fashioned Technology

I was one of "those" people who held out on getting a smart phone for a very, very long time. I had a flip phone for emergencies, which my friend shared that I should call it a "flip-o-saurus".  For several years past everyone else, I held on to my flip-o-saurus and paid a low monthly fee and rarely used it. The downside was that if I needed instant directions due to road construction, I was at a loss. I would normally call my husband in those times and ask him to look up an alternate route for me on his smart phone and that was a bit inconvenient for him.

I held out on getting a smart phone for such a long time, I believe, because I had worked in a job where I had to be "on call" twenty four hours a day and my pager would beep or vibrate at all hours. I wasn't drawn to add that level of adrenaline back into my life. I did not savor the thought of phones ringing or buzzing or vibrating during my quiet evenings or during my down-time with my family.

And then I realized....

With my current role, I should not have any (or many) emergencies and I can definitely choose to shut off my phone completely when I am in the comfort of my home with my family. Ahhhh....that felt so much more relaxing than my New York City role where I had to be available at all hours of the night to help manage a conflict. The adrenaline rush of that time period served its purpose in my life, but now I was ready to embrace a new chapter. I did not want to bring the stress of a pager with me (or the feeling of being paged twenty four seven).

Therefore, in January of 2014, I embraced the idea of owning a smart phone. And, yes, being able to look up things that I needed while away from my home is a huge time saver and entirely helpful. Having directions shared with me as I am en-route to a hostess' home is wonderful and such a help so that I don't doubt that I am driving in the right direction or will make it to my destination. The only drawback with having a Smart Phone with unlimited minutes was the fact that I don't like talking into the device itself. I really wanted an old fashioned hand-set to hold up to my ear and have the familiarity of talking into a phone. My "need" for such an item was loudly answered as I was searching on www.1Sale.com one evening and found exactly what I needed.

"What you focus on expands" Oprah

"What you focus on.....Expands"  Oprah Winfrey

This simple quote has made a huge impact on my life:

There are times in our lives when our hearts, souls, spirits and minds do need to dwell and live in a moment. Grieving the loss of a loved one is such a time and we cannot rush along the process or push it through faster. I had a good friend share with me during my grief, "you can't go around it; you can't go over it; you can't go under it...You are going to have to go through it."  That was a profound truth.

In other aspects of my life, I often think twice before repeating a negative situation that I encountered that morning. Why?  When I take the time to repeat that story, I am re-living that event and it is happening again all over in my mind, in my heart and in my cells.  I ask myself, "Do I want to re-live that moment again by re-telling it?"   ....Sometimes the answer is....Yes.  Sometimes we do need to re-live a situation in the re-telling because we are trying to understand, to make sense of and to process what happened.  Other times, I know the best answer for my future is "No".  No, I don't need to go back over that ground and grind in the wheel marks in the soil deeper and deeper.  Sometimes it is healthier to keep going and not look back...

On a positive note, this is a powerful quote that has guided me in working towards many big accomplishments in my business.  I have realized that putting a lot of focus on a particular goal and honing in on that goal with a vision board or a goal sheet or a written plan (or all three) are powerful tools I use to focus on reaching that all-important goal in my life.  I will share that all three times I have earned our company's Incentive Spa Trip, I did focus a huge amount of effort on the plan, my action steps, following through and envisioning what it would feel like to reach that specific goal.

It is a great reminder to myself that what I "focus on expands" because it can occur in a positive light or in a negative light. I do my best to keep my daily stories, my re-tellings of events, and even my own thoughts of a positive nature because those are the things that are going to take up the most real estate in my mind. Those are the things that I can choose to give power to or else put out the flame on that candle if they are not helpful, supportive or encouraging.

"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things."  Philippians 4:8

Our Thoughts become Things

Do you ever find yourself wondering, "Why is SHE so successful and why is it so EASY for her?" If so, keep reading:

If we were to step back and carefully assess what it is that brings others success, I believe that Jeff Olson has it right, that a person's philosophy has more control of the situation than we give credit.

Are you familiar with this quote,
"Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right" Henry Ford

How about:
"Our thoughts become things."

What if you could make a slight shift in just one thing that you think regularly that is a negative thought? We all have negative thoughts...we all are too hard on ourselves. What if we, instead, employed a small shift and shared with ourselves, "I am doing my best at learning __________and I am mastering it" instead of a negative thought about that item.

Practicing positive self-talk is life-altering in many, many ways. Much love to each of you today as you are kind to yourself and feel uplifted as a result. Here is a simple shift: (negative) "I am overwhelmed, tired, have too much to do, can't get it all done, etc" (A simple shift to the positive): "I have a lot to do, but I am accomplishing so much by focusing on tackling one thing at a time. I've got this."

DIY Aromatherapy Shower Tablets

Since almost everyone in my home has a bad cold complete with cough and sinus troubles, I thought it was time to "google" a recipe for shower tablets.  I have purchased these at the health food store, but they are a bit pricey--

Simple Self Care Rituals

Healing Elements Testimonial

Our Healing Elements Balm was originally created for diaper rash, as a newborn's skin is extremely thin and a bad rash needs lots of care. As time has proven, our Healing Elements Balm has been helpful for the most vulnerable skin and some difficult skin conditions.

What we did not know when that incredible balm was introduced is just how helpful it would also be for patients undergoing radiation and chemo, how helpful it has been for some individuals with psoriasis and eczema as well as helping with this long list:  aging thin skin, mosquito bites, burns, rashes, bug bites, road rash, sunburns, pimples, and diminishing dark circles under eyes.

A Lesson from NYC

Years ago, when I worked in NYC, I returned to work after a leave of absence due to an appendectomy.  One of the General Managers that I worked with was asking me about my trip to the hospital and I explained that it was grueling to wait in a NYC hospital for over 14 hours before the decision was made for surgery. I waited in the waiting room over six hours and it was tough to sit in those chairs in pain. I have a high threshold for pain, but it definitely was a tough wait. It is hard to argue with the situation when people are pushed ahead of you for life or death situations. The emergency room "line" is much different than a line at a local deli, to be sure.

In a strong New York accent, my General Manager proceeded to tell me that I had everything wrong when it came to waiting in the ER. He said, If you ever have to visit an ER room in New York City again, you need to let them know you need help immediately. Amazingly, he told me that when he had a heart attack in New Jersey (said with a thick accent :)  that he refused to let his wife drive him to the hospital. He personally drove himself through the tunnel (with his wife in the passenger seat) to his preferred NYC hospital, parked the car calmly, walked across the parking lot, entered through the sliding glass doors in the Emergency Room wing and then dropped to the floor, grabbing his heart. He told me, "that is the way you push through the line in the ER in New York City".

Every time I tell that story, I laugh right along with those I am telling the story to, and it is a true story. I also share, "Keep that in mind if you are ever in need of help in a hospital."  ;)
